Owns Horse(s)? Yes. I have been focusing on dressage a lot lately with my OTTB gelding as I want a solid foundation before I start jumping him. My main three disciplines are dressage, show jumping and eventing. I've either competed or schooled these events on other horses that I was ridding for a trainer. I am included in USPC and have been for 1 1/2 years now. I'm a D3 and will be expecting to rate for my C1 in the coming year when my own horse ages into USPC policy. I've also competed in several USPC rallies and my teams have always placed first with 1 exception. These rallies being I was a Stable Manager and part of a catch team in Quiz Rally. I'm also very concerned and mindful of my horse management skills and I'm always looking to improve and hone my skill set.
What does being a Kerrits Ambassador mean to you? It means that I'm supporting the Sport of Kings! We all started riding for the same reason, the love of horses. Now some people may only be recreational while others take it to the next level and make it a profession. I'm helping represent a company that has consistently made quality products for every type of rider. Now when we are riding, our main goal as a rider is to influence the horse in a positive way, so it makes sense that a positive rider equals a positive horse. Now, it may seem irrelevant but a good pair of breeches can really help your comfort during a ride, so if your breeches or shirt are uncomfortable, that will ultimately transfer to your horse. A rider that is uncomfortable will have a horse that is tense somewhere also. So it makes sense that you, as a rider, should take the responsibility to make sure your fitting well in your "tack" to work your best such as we ask our equine partners. And Kerrits has offered that ability to be comfortable for every shape and size of rider!
What are your passions as a rider and ambassador? My passion as a rider is to compete at the upper levels of eventing but my ultimate goal as a horse lover is to make sure my horses are happy and healthy. I want a horse that is happy doing his job and wants to want to work with you. I have been blessed with the opportunity to own my lovely horse, who tries so hard to please, and allows me to work with him. I truly believe the ability of the rider isn't judged by the spectator but by the horse. A horse who thinks highly of the rider will allow the rider to direct him. My goal as an ambassador is to create a team between me and my horse that the company I would be representing would be proud to say, "There is one of our many ambassadors!"
What is your connection to Kerrits? My very first pair of Kerrits were breeches that were passed down to me from a friend. I loved how they felt, so I went and bought my second pair at my local feed store, Wilco. They are a pair of tan/almond with black panels breeches that have the full seat sticky bum. I love how they feel when I ride and really appreciate the sticky bum when my horse decides to throw in a spook! I loved them and how they fit, they have lasted me 4 years and still going strong! I now have a couple pairs of breeches and I am currently drooling over a pair of black Ice fil sticky bum tights! I always love the signature carrot seed tag that is always included! Sadly, I do not have a way to grow them, so I usually give them to somebody who can! But never the less, I have throughout enjoyed all my Kerrits products and will continue to love them! I even wore my full seat breeches to school multiple times! I even had one girl compliment me on my pants and boots! I just chuckled because little did she know, those boots and pants had a purpose beyond fashion!
