Ambassador: ALEJA LOPEZ
What does being a Kerrits Ambassador mean to you?
Being a Kerrits ambassador would really push me as a rider to be better. It would push me so I could move up the levels in eventing, and brands would want to sponsor me. It would honestly mean the world to me because ever since I started riding I have had to work hard for where I am today. If that means babysitting, and working around the house every single day until I could pay for a show and board I will do it. When I started riding my parents were very unsure about everything that had to do with horses. After my first lesson at 10 years old, I was obsessed. I remember setting goals for myself saying that hopefully if I work hard enough I could eventually jump. Those goals eventually grew into working at the barn every day, babysitting, and cleaning around the house just to prove to my parents that I am able to help pay for the costs of owning a horse. Because of these many costs, my parents don't pay for shows, tack, or riding clothes. My first pair of riding breeches was a pair of Kerrits breeches. they were the cutest blue pair of breeches with a black knee patch. I had these until there were holes in the knees and the knee patch had rubbed off. Since then I knew that Kerrits offered a line of affordable, comfortable, and super quality riding apparel. I now have so many pairs of breeches, shirts and a show coat that I absolutely love to keep me cool year round, while also looking flashy in the show ring.
What are your passions as a rider and ambassador?
My passions as a rider and ambassador is my horse. She makes me want to become better so we can improve together. She makes me humble and she makes me want to compete so as a team we can be the best possible team out there. At shows, we are currently evening novice hopefully to move up to training. Because of this move up the levels we work on improving our flatwork by setting goals with our dressage trainer and improving the way we confidently gallop around cross country and the way we jump around the stadium with no faults. As an ambassador this would include showing off my show breeches, shirts and coat at three-day events, further promoting your brand.
What is your connection to Kerrits?
My connection to Kerrits was introduced through that first pair of blue breeches. At the time I didn't know anyone else that rode so I couldn't ask which pair of breeches to buy. When I walked into our local tack shop I immediately fell in love with your breeches. After wearing them for years I knew that I made the right decision. Since then I have added many other Kerrits products to my riding wardrobe.
