Ambassador: ASU EQUESTRIAN TEAM
We are a club team at Arizona State University actively competing in the IHSA, Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in the Hunt Seat division. The mission of the team is to create a fun, encouraging, and competitive atmosphere for both new and experienced riders to further develop their equestrian skills while pursuing their studies. Our program offers riders several different levels of opportunities so they can tailor their equine competition based on their level of time, finances, and experience. IHSA provides all levels of competition from Walk-Trot (beginner) to the Open Over Fences Division (advanced). This allows riders of all levels the opportunity to compete while pursuing their academic careers. During our 2015-2016 show season our team was very competitive in Zone 8 Region 2, and sent two riders to represent ASU and Region 2 at the National Collegiate Finals where one rider came home as Reserve National Champion. This year we achieved Reserve High Point Team for Zone 8 Region 2, and sent 3 individual riders to Zones.
What does being a Kerrits Ambassador mean to you?
We understand that being a Kerrits ambassador is usually meant for individuals; however, we felt that since so many of our riders use Kerritts products, it would be beneficial for both parties to connect as a team.
We are a team always looking for new ways to spread the word about our team and to further our positive influence in the equine community We feel that it is extremely important to reach out to both the ASU community and the horse community in order to develop an open, charitable and dedicated atmosphere for the team. We continually connect with other club sport teams that must self-fund just like us. For example, by bringing snacks to Rugby team practices, we are able to show support for other athletes who do not benefit from university funding of varsity sports, and in return, we create a lasting support system within the club sport hub. We also volunteer to judge schooling shows that are put together by therapeutic riding centers such as Hunkapi and S.T.A.R.S of Horsemanship. The opportunity to work with young, aspiring equestrians allows our team to become part of the Arizona equine community in a way that extends beyond the boundaries of our college campus.
Thank you for your time and your support of the Arizona State English Equestrian Team! We are looking forward to a very exciting and competitive year, and hope to make it even better by becoming a Kerrits Ambassador.
What are your passions as a rider and ambassador?
The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association provides Arizona State University with the opportunity to be competitive at both a Regional and National level alongside some of the most prestigious private universities in the country. Just this past May, one of our riders brought home an Individual Reserve National Champion title and another placed in the Top 16. Consistently since the team was founded in 2008, ASU has proven to be the school of choice for many talented riders. However, our team has also introduced complete beginners to the sport of horseback riding.
We routinely work with local riding centers to help with equine therapy sessions, judging local schooling shows, and spreading our knowledge and love of horse to others in the Arizona community.
Many of our team members are dedicated Kerrits customers.
What is your connection to Kerrits?
Many of our girls show and school in Kerrits riding pants. Our secretary has owned her Kerrits show pants for over 3 years. She swears by their lasting integrity and how phenomenal their condition remains. Others, like myself, absolutely love to school in the full seat pants that come in beautiful colors and designs. Kerrits has continually proven to be an affordable, comfortable, and fashionable choice for ASU Equestrian Team members, and we would love to continue to share with the world how wonderful this company is as a team ambassador.
