Ambassador: KETKI HOTALING
What does being a Kerrits Ambassador mean to you?
Becoming a Kerrits Ambassador would mean I get to help promote the growth of a company that promotes a greener future amongst college students. As a college student myself, I know that being comfortable and stylish at the barn for early morning sessions is crucial since we rarely have time to change before class back on campus. By dressing in my Kerrits outfits,I can walk right from the barn to class in style and comfort until the end of the day when I finish at the barn once again. I never feel uncomfortable or unfashionable when wearing Kerrits. The confidence I have when in the clothing, allows me to walk right into class without worrying about what other kids think of my apparel. Encouraging my classmates to wear Kerrits will hopefully pass this on to them as well. Additionally, this company promotes the wellbeing of the planet, something I hold very close to my heart. In fact, I even convinced my parents to install solar panels on our house! Working with a company whose goal is a greener future, is something I can be proud of. What isn't to love about stylish, comfortable clothing with the goal to keep women and the environment happy?
What are your passions as a rider and ambassador?
As a rider, I am first and foremost passionate about my partners. I love to win in the show ring, but firstly comes the comfort and happiness of my horse. This starts with the rider. You must have a good attitude and determination. There is no room for frustration, anger, or sadness in the saddle. You must feel your best to get the best out of your horse. Physically this starts with your apparel. Your pants don't fit correctly? Your shirt is itchy when you sweat? This doesn't make for a happy rider and often you become irritated. The horse feeds off of this and thus becomes annoyed. By wearing comfortable clothing that wicks away sweat and keeps you feeling your best, you can share the happy energy with your horse. As a rider I also strive to set an example for the younger generation to carry the attitude of a champion. Sometimes you might not win and that is ok. However if you had fun and felt good about it, you've already won. It is safe to say I am passionate about having a good attitude about the sport. As an ambassador, I would continue to set an example for the youth and help others become more comfortable in the tack. Starting with their clothing.
What is your connection to Kerrits?
I first learned about Kerrits when I was very young. I started riding when I was three years old. Naturally, no such riding pants would exist at the time. So there I was learning to trot on a horse in leggings from Target. The seam always left an indent on my legs and horse hair always got stuck to them making me itch. I always thought riding was just an itchy pinching sport until I finally grew big enough to get my first pair of Kerrits breaches. We went to Stone Ridge in Long Lake Minnesota and spent hours looking for just the right ones. Finally we found a pair of tan pants that fit me. The fabric was soft against my skin and was comfortable enough to sleep in. The next lesson, I finally got to wear my breeches and no pinching, or itch occurred. Overjoyed, I wore them to school the next day. I may have gotten a few disapproving looks from my teachers and peers, but I didn't care. I had found riding pants that fit, and were comfortable. Years later I purchased the crossover breeches and fell in love all over again. After learning about the mission of a greener planet, I always tried to purchase Kerrits only.
