Ambassador: MIKA ELGIE
What does being a Kerrits Ambassador mean to you?
When I was eleven years old, I traveled abroad as a student ambassador. Before we left on our journey, our group leaders discussed with the student ambassadors what such a title truly meant, and even at such a young age we were proud to have the opportunity to represent our country and its future through such a great program. I believe that brand ambassadorship should be treated no differently. It is a brand ambassador's job to promote the brand and its products, sure, but also to embody what the brand itself stands for in attitude, in horsemanship, and in daily life.
What are your passions as a rider and ambassador?
My new import, Cooley Mastermind, and I have just begun our journey to 2* young riders and beyond. We have competed in two events since he arrived in the US less than a month ago, winning one division of fifteen and placing fourth in a division of eighteen. After young riders and hopefully entry to the Under 25 Developing Riders program I aspire to compete at the top level of the sport and hopefully represent the US at the Olympics someday.
What is your connection to Kerrits?
Since I was a child riding in the pony jumpers, it has always been difficult for me to find breeches that fit me. It is even more difficult now because most breeches begin at a size 24. I discovered Kerrits' extra-small size and its near-perfect fit, I was hooked and remain so to this day. So you see, my initial interest was rather vain. But then I discovered Kerrits' dedication to providing equestrians with durable, fashionable, quality gear without breaking the bank, and I began to see a stance I could truly get behind.
