Horseback Riding Goals: Creating Action Items
Expert Advice
1 minute read
Action items are huge part of making your horseback riding goals a reality! When it comes to action items, the key is to keep them practical and inspiring—whether it’s something you already do but need to be more consistent with, or a new habit you’d like to add to your routine.
Here’s the thing: action items should NEVER feel like a chore. If you dread them, they’ll quickly become something you avoid, and that’s when progress stalls.
Action Item Examples:
- Trot for 20 minutes each ride to work on your horse's fitness
- Debrief after each ride, going over what went well and what needs improvement
- Count your strides out loud between jumps
- Perfecting a 10 meter circle
- Stretch your horse and yourself before your ride
- Hack out in a field to build your horse's confidence
- Get your horse to back up five steps
