Stable-Savvy Waterproof Barn Boots for Women
Equestrian Resources
6 minute read
As a lifelong equestrian, I've worn (and worn out) a lot of barn boots. Most of the "trendy" footwear that was popular in my youth has long since come and gone—and, in most cases, good riddance!
For decades, it seemed nearly impossible to find women's waterproof barn boots that successfully blended function, fashion, and all-day comfort.
If I wanted them to keep the rain out, I had to put up with loud prints that didn't match any of my riding apparel. If I wanted a fashionable look, I had to deal with cold, damp feet. If I wanted my boots to last for years (not seasons), I was hobbling around by the time I mucked out my second stall.
Beautiful, barn-tough, love-to-wear-them-all-day-and-night boots were just a dream back then. That's why I'm so excited Kerrits has ushered in a new era of equestrian footwear—and it's a game changer.
Critical Barn Boot Qualities
When it comes to picking your next pair of barn boots, make sure they tick these boxes:
Comfortable: There's nothing worse than having a perfectly sound horse, but wearing boots that make you lame. Quality footwear should be comfortable from morning chores to night check. Long hours standing on cement and navigating uneven terrain come with the territory, and your boots have to keep up.
Waterproof: Whether there's rain in the forecast or not, you need waterproof boots. From muddy paddocks to sloshing water buckets, Mother Nature isn't the only way to get wet feet. Protect yourself from soppy socks with footwear that keeps you cozy and dry all day.
Ride-Ready: Be prepared to hop on a naughty pony mid-lesson, or celebrate finishing barn chores early with a ride around the pasture. Barn boots with proper tread and a safety heel help you go from groundwork to gallop without missing a beat.
Durable: Barn girls are tough, and their boots should be, too. We don't have time (or patience, frankly) for stuck zippers, broken laces, or separated soles. Plus, we want our horse fund to pay for shows, lessons, and TREATS—not replacement boots.
Stylish: Why should we have to choose between fashionable and functional? I want to be able to run errands on the way home or meet friends for happy hour with an elevated look that transitions from stable to street with ease.
Introducing Kerrits Footwear
When our product team announced Kerrits was adding footwear to our product line in 2021, I did a little happy dance. (Fine, it was a big happy dance!)
Not only was I confident our customers would rave about the end result, I personally couldn't wait to wear our boots to the barn—and beyond.
The same brand promise that made Kerrits a leader in equestrian apparel for 30 years helped us make the best barn boots for women—design performance gear that helps riders stand tall on the ground and in the irons as they follow their riding dreams.
After all, Kerrits has been giving women a leg up in performance and style for decades. Why not use our deep knowledge and innovative design process to create barn boots women truly love to wear?
Without further adieu, let's walk through (pun intended) what I love most about my favorite barn boots!
