Definitely waterproof and comfortable. The opening is a smidge wider so boot cut pants are necessary if you don't want pieces of hay or shavings to sneak their way in.

I usually wear a size 9 or an 8 1/2 shoe, but have found with this shoe the 9 was too large and in the 8 1/2 size the righ left foot was perfect but the right is too loose so returning for a credit.
